Cowes Enterprise College career programme accolades
Permanent Secretary for the Department for Education (DfE), Susan Acland-Hood gave praise to Cowes Enterprise College’s for their careers guidance and support for students.
During a visit to the school, Ms Acland-Hood joined a year 7 Design and Technology class and saw the school’s approach to embedding career education, guidance and support into the curriculum for each year group.

The school has a comprehensive approach in place for careers guidance, including close partnerships with local employers that connect students with careers and employers in their local community. This approach led to the school being awarded the prestigious “Quality in Careers Standards” award.

Ms Acland-Hood could see the impact of the career guidance approach, as students shared their career goals with her and discussed how the school helped them explore different career options.

On her visit, Ms Acland-Hood said: “Good careers education helps young people dream big, but also to see the practical path to realise their dreams. It was excellent to visit Cowes Enterprise College and see how their brilliant careers education uses businesses and employers to inspire, and a strong, knowledge-rich curriculum to build real paths to excellence – hand in hand”.
