Girls at Shelfield Academy are Football Champions
Shelfield U15 Girls – National Champions. The girl’s football team at Shelfield Community Academy in Walsall have won the U15 Girls National Football cup at Pride Park in Derby.
The final match kicked off at 10am on Monday 14th May at Pride Park, the home of Derby County Football Club, where Shelfield Community Academy beat Drayton Manor High School 5-4 on penalties.
The girls at the academy took part in an exhaustive programme of matches across the country. A total of 370 schools entered the competition.
Academy Principal Bernard Dickenson said: “These girls are an outstanding group of young people. Their success has been based on a number of fantastic performances. The girls have been brilliant.”
